I'm told not to eat or drink anything after 5:30 a.m.--roughly eight hours before I go under anesthesia for that stupid thing growing on my posterior. Had a relatively late dinner. And some pretzels. A bit of cheese. No booze, as instructed. Still sipping cool water.

I'm also told to wear "loose-fitting" clothing to the clinic. I guess it'd be a bad idea to wear snug pants after this particular procedure. Someone suggested I finally listen to the call of my Scottish heritage and wear a kilt. What do you think? Shall I invest, between now and high noon?

My own family tartan--at least the official one--is downright gaudy. Similar to Ewan McGregor's, but too much bright red, at least for my taste.
