Interesting . . .

Me ma was a lefty.

Oh, I've been intending to dash over here and mention something. My friend is having a get-to-gether with friends and family on Saturday and she's invited a woman she's been working with on the Obama campaign, Something Reed, to provide information on an informal level. I'm looking forward to it.

Regards

Re: Interesting . . .

I believe that Ronna Reed, Donna's twin sister. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Nope . . .

I called my friend and asked her. She didn't know if the person was related to donna reed. Doesn't know who donna reed is, but the name is annie or anne or some such.

Re: Interesting . . .

I think the setting was more informal than I was prepared for. The concept of time and place wasn't familiar to many. Too many references to religion and coupling that and politics together. One woefully misguided person suggested Obama's Islamic name may be off-putting to many. After I picked my jaw up from the ground that someone would make that statement, I could only suspect it was driven by a bias against muslims perhaps. Uhm, Barack Obama isn't an Islamic name as far as I have thought thus far, but rather an African one. His father may have had Islamic leanings, but the name isn't one that would be considered Islamic. [my friend just told me he was an atheist, but i don't know abt that] It's not even Arabic, the language of the quran. [rant over] I did like the few comments that weren't overshadowed by the church-revival environment regarding education, tax cuts for employers hiring americans over here, health and medical issues. One good point made was that people who cannot afford medical care are then penalized by the system when they can't. The speaker was tired, I guess as she'd been traveling for the campaign over the last few days. Not being assertive she didn't moderate the gathering well so there was a lot of off topicness. But, all-in-all, I get positive vibes. There was concern expressed for the over abundance of Hilary airtime and significant lack there of Obama air time on local stations, but considering the local mentality and whose pockets are the fullest as a rule, one can understand why.

I just noticed the same thing! Or, more accurately, my bf, who is also a leftie, did.
So is McCain.

yeeeaaah

here's to us left handers.

except they aren't my favorite presidents. hmmm.
Very nice. I like the one with the classy piecework quilt. I can do one like that with [info]joethecat and a spare bumper sticker I still have around.
I'm a leftie too! Are you?
In fact, I'm not. I wondered how long it'd take someone to ask.
